Recently, Ganhekou North South Wind Farm in Guazhou, Gansu, successfully completed the station-level test of “main power type wind turbines + self-synchronous voltage source energy storage system?and achieved full operation! The project boasts a total installed capacity of 100MW and features a 35kV Self-Synchronized Voltage Source High-Voltage Direct-Mounted Energy Storage System (namely, Grid-Type Cascaded High-Voltage Energy Storage System) supplied by Zhiguang Energy Storage.
The project, completed in December 2023, was a collaboration between CGDG, Zhiguang Energy Storage, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The technical team successfully conducted tests on the Main Power Type Wind Turbine + Self-Synchronized Voltage Source Energy Storage System, including a 330kV system black start, isolated grid operation, and networked three-phase metallic short circuit. Additionally, they completed frequency regulation and inertia test, symmetrical and asymmetrical high and low penetration tests, grid-connected artificial metallic short-circuit tests, and black start operations of the energy storage system with the fan and 330kV main transformer during grid-connection.
This project has reaffirmed the power grid fault support capability, exceptional frequency regulation and inertia support, and the grid adaptability with wide short-circuit ratio of Zhiguang Energy Storage’s Self-Synchronized Voltage Source High-Voltage Direct-Mounted Storage System. These features ensure strong support for the uninterrupted and stable operation of wind turbine and stations under various on/off-grid conditions.
From the key technology research of the National 863 Project in 2013, to the first batch of energy storage technology pilot demonstration projects of the National Energy Administration in 2020, and finally to the engineering and construction of the national first demonstration project at the Ganhekou North South Wind Farm.
