On November 11, Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd. (Zhiguang Electric) held the foundation ceremony for the Meizhou Pingyuan New Intelligent Independent Energy Storage Project (Meizhou Intelligent Energy Storage Project) in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province.
Zhou Xiaoyong, Secretary of Pingyuan County Committee and County Mayor, Yu Yizong, Wu Yuhua, Cai Rong, Li Yongxi, Chairman and President of Zhiguang Electric, Jiang Xinyu, Executive Vice President of Zhiguang Electric, Cao Chengfeng, Vice President of Zhiguang Electric, Ling Ruichao, Chairman of Zhongyuan Energy, Zhou Xiufeng, General Manager of Zhongyuan Energy, Zhang Wei, Chairman of Huayue Power, as well as leaders of relevant government departments and project design, construction, and supervision units, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the project.
Meizhou Intelligent Energy Storage Project, the first large-scale grid-side energy storage power station in Guangdong Province in 2024, is now under construction. It has been designated as a key construction project for 2024 and featured in Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission’s List of major new energy storage application scenarios.
The first phase of Meizhou Intelligent Energy Storage Project spans16,000 square meters, aiming to build a new 100MW/200MW energy storage power station The project will feature four sets of High-Voltage Direct-Mounted Energy Storage Systems independently developed by Zhiguang Electric and internationally leading in technology. Its single unit capacity reaches 25MW/50MWh, currently the largest single unit capacity energy storage system in China and the first new energy storage power station with a voltage level of 220kV in Meizhou power grid. The first phase of the project is expected to be connected to the grid and put into operation in the first half of 2025.
Zhou Xiaoyong stated that the new energy industry is a vital component of Pingyuan’s new quality productivity and a key industry in the ?+N?green industry system. The successful commencement of Meizhou Smart Energy Storage Project will alleviate the peak power supply pressure in Pingyuan County and achieve peak shaving for power grid, promote the consumption of new energy and improve the safe and stable operation level of the power system. This project significantly contributes to high-quality development of Pingyuan's new energy industry and social economy.
Zhou Xiaoyong expressed his hope that Zhiguang Electric would serve as a catalyst to attract more energy storage enterprises and related enterprises to Pingyuan, collectively creating an influential advanced energy storage industry cluster. He urged all county departments to prioritize service, providing the highest quality, most convenient and efficient support for project construction and enterprise development, thereby accelerating project progress and production.
Li Yongxi emphasized that the new energy storage is a crucial component of both new power system and energy system, becoming a key supporting technology for the development in China. Zhiguang Electric leverages independent research and development to master the core technology of energy storage system, aiming to provide safe, efficient, and easily managed energy storage system lower life cycle cost to support the construction of a new power system.
The smooth progress of the Meizhou Intelligent Energy Storage Project, an investment project in Pingyuan, is due to the strong support from the Pingyuan County Committee, County Government, and relevant departments. Zhiguang Electric will build with high standards, promote with high efficiency, and complete projects with high quality, achieving early completion, early commissioning, early production, and early profit creation, and turning the Meizhou Pingyuan new intelligent independent energy storage project into a model of green energy.
Upon completion, the project will optimize Meizhou power structure, alleviate peak-hour supply pressure on main distribution network, and facilitate peak shaving and valley filling. Additionally, it will promote green energy consumption, enhance power grid stability and safety, achieve efficient enery use and intelligent management, and support construction of a new electric power system, contributing to the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
Amidst a warm and festive atmosphere, and highlighted by the exciting sound of salutes, the foundation ceremony of Meizhou Intelligent Energy Storage Project was a resounding success. The ceremony lays a solid foundation for the project’s future construction.
